CARNIVAL
Every November North Somerset explodes with light and sound
as the great night time Carnivals take to the streets of the small
market towns. Starting in Bridgwater, a few nights after Guy Fawkes
celebrations, over a hundred enormous floats (or carts as they
are called locally, going back to the time when they were all horse
drawn) emblazoned with 20.000 light bulbs or more, make their way
up and around High Streets, to the delight of thousands of onlookers.
The Carnivaliers dress in fantastic costumes, acting out the themes
of each cart, and each is a spectacle of light and colour.
